Magazine Creation Practice Test

In class we had to do a test which was to create a Magazine Cover and Content page, to show our teacher where we are at, and so that our teacher can see where each of us are at and who is doing good and who is not.

Below Is two screen shots of the cover and contents page i have created using Photoshop CS6:

I used 'Lil Wayne' As my Main Image for the cover page, i used a secondary image as I did not have to use my own images. I made the character stand out by keeping the background White, I contrasted the colours he is wearing and tried to keep the colour constant through out the cover so that it looks even and not odd.  i Made the Main Cover Line blend in to what he is wearing with the colours 'red,blue,yellow and pink'. I added other cover lines on the page of famous celebrities which will also be appealing and lets the audience know what they are going to get inside the magazine. In the Masthead I made the background Hot Pink as this makes it stand out from the rest of the cover but is still consistent with the colour schemes.

For the Content Page I still kept the Colour scheme of pink and blue as this contrasts with 'Lil Wayne' on the front cover. I changed the typeface to match the image of 'Nicki Minaj' which I added in the content page as one other main topic in the magazine that the audience would like. I added the masthead from the cover, minimised and  placed it on the bottom right of the content page which makes it feel related to the cover.

Clothing For Magazine 

For my media project i decided to make a clothing line called South Base Clothing, I made garments which stated 'LOL@ UR SWAG' which matches my magazine criteria of Hip-Hop/RnB Genre. I thought this would be good as it helps make my project more realistic and make it mine, I have took proffesional photos with these garments on and told various friends to wear and be apart of my project and to take part in my photo shoot.

This was one of the photos I took, of me and some of my mates, we are all wearing the garments as you can see, i could drop this in to my A Double Page Spread as this would make the story even more fascinating to the audience and more realistic.

Primary Source Images

Over the Christmas Holidays and also before I have taken some primary source images of my self near the 02 Arena in Greenwich and also some pictures on a white background with a proffesional Camera, which allowed me to gain good quality images of myself. I have taken many images and i am going to post a few on here.

I have taken this picture in Greenwich near the O2 arena of me on a Mid-Shot of the body. This photo is really effective, and is also a high quality image.

 



I have taken this picture In the same place but in North Greenwich which is near the O2 Arena, I was taking these photos to also promote the jumpers I had created.

 

 

Here I have taken a picture on a white background which I setted up myself, i have the edited the picture on Adobe Fireworks CS6.

Magazine Project

Main Project

My Main project is going to be to create a Hip-hop/RnB Magazine including: a Cover Page, Content Page and also a Double Page Spread before the deadline.

Images

I am going to take Primary Source Images as this is needed and is my own images that I have to use for my: Magazine Research Analyses, Mock ups and also my main final Magazine. (More detail on these below). I am going to take images on a White Background so that it is easy for me to edit in Photoshop as i could easily get rid of the background crop the image, and add different affects, i can also even add a a different background to the image.

Magazine Research Analysis

My magazine research analysis is going to consist of researching a minimum of 3 Cover pages of different magazines, 3 Different Content Pages, and also 3 Different Double Page Spreads. i am going to analyse different things of the magazine such as: Main Cover Lines, Cover lines, Graphics, Main Image. Masthead and so on.

Mock Ups

I am going to create a minimum of 2 Mock ups for cover pages. The mock ups will show a general idea of how my main project is going to be, in my mock ups i am going to use primary source images that i have taken my self.

Main Magazine

My Main Magazine is going to be related to my mock ups and the magazines i have researched, i am going to use my own images for these pages. I am going to have to create my own mastheads, cover lines and so on.
